Honey Chilli Potato (No Bake Recipe) 

  • - A great snack for kids as well as for house parties. 




Hello all of you. Honey Chilli Potato is a tasty Chinese snack. It is one of the best options as a snack for kids as well as a snack for house parties. 

Honey Chilli Potato consists of long potato wedges (Like french fries)  tossed in a nice saucy gravy of garlic, chopped onions and capsicums, various sauces etc. It tastes best when served hot, directly from the pan.

For this, the potatoes are firstly cut into long wedges. Then they are coated in a batter made up of flour,  cornflour and water. After this they are deep fried. Later on they are tossed in a nice saucy gravy. Sounds tasty, right! 😍

Preparation Time - 20 minutes

Cooking Time -  20 minutes

Total Time - 40 minutes

Serves - 4


Ingredients - 

For the potatoes - 
  • 4-5 potatoes cut into long wedges ( Like French fries) 
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour
  • A pinch of salt
  • Water enough for making a thick batter
For the Sauvy Gravy - 
  • 1 onion finely chopped 
  • 1 capsicum cut into thin juliennes (cut into long strips) 
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic 
  • 1 green chilli chopped 
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soya sauce
  • 1 teaspoon green chilli sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar 
  • Salt to taste 
  • Pepper powder to taste
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon 

Method - 

  • Cut the potatoes into long wedges,  like French fries. 
  • Make a thick batter using flour,  cornflour, salt and water. 
  • Heat oil in a pan. Mix the potato wedges and batter nicely. Now deep fry the potato wedges till they are  golden in color. 
  • For making the sauce,  take a pan. Add 1 tablespoon oil. Heat it. Add garlic and green chilli. Saute for a few seconds. 
  • Now add the chopped onions and capsicums. Saute, on a middle flame,  for around two minutes. 

  • Now add tomato sauce, green chilli sauce, soya sauce, salt, pepper, vinegar and honey. 
  • Cook it for a minute. 
  • Now add the deep fried potato wedges. On a low flame, nicely toss the potato wedhes so that they get coated with the gravy. 
  • Your honey chilli potatoes are ready! 

Note - 

  • You can garnish your honey chilli potatoes with white sesame and chopped spring onions. This will give  a nice look to the honey chilli potatoes. 
  • If you are making these for a party,  you can deep fry the potato wedges in advance. As your guests arrive, make the gravy, toss the potato wedges in the gravy and serve these hot to your guests. 
  • If you want you can add chilli flakes also. It would give them a spicy flavour.

  1. This actually looks like a perfect meal for a cold winter day. What did you personally think of this dish? I am not a chili guy myself so I would sub that for sour cream once they cooled a little...
